Fournier Père et Fils, Sancerre & Pouilly Fumé
Located on the Loire River banks, in Verdigny in the Sancerre AOC, the Founier family has continued to run the vineyards handed down by their ancestors, with an unfailing respect for tradition. Coming from several generations of wine-growers, Paul (the father), Claude and Jacques (the sons) are at the helm of the estate which became a Société Anonyme in 1981.
With 5 hectares in 1950, they now own a 56-hectare vineyard spread between Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Menetou-Salon. Over the years, they have developed their style using traditional methods but experimenting with new techniques to create modern wines. The white wines are aged from 4 to 6 months on their lees to give an extra dimension, then fined and filtered prior to bottling. They are high quality benchmark wines from the Loire's Central Vineyards.
