2010 Domaine de Cristia Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Renaissance'
Single Bottles (75cl) @ £42.00
      Go Back
Tasting Notes:
My favourite wine from the Cristia stable in 2010, Renaissance has a lovely Mourvedre character which sets it apart from the Tradition and Vieilles Vignes cuvees and, in a vintage of this quality, the freshness of the wine makes this more forward and attractive.
Drinking Dates:
2018 to 2030
Cépagement:
60% Grenache (100-year-old vines), 40% Mourvèdre (50-year-old vines)
Soil:
Sandy clay soil facing East which ensures freshness
Upbringing:
Grenache aged in 2-3 year- old barrels, Mourvèdre aged in new barrels for 12 months, then blending in vats for 6 months.
ABV:
15%
Critic Reviews:
"Deep ruby. Exotic, oak-spiced aromas of candied red and dark berries, with a suave floral quality adding complexity. Deeply concentrated but quite energetic, offering powerful black raspberry and cherry-cola flavors and a velour-like texture. Dusty tannins add grip to a long, penetrating finish that closes on a note of bitter cherry." 93/100 (Wine Advocate)

"This has a lot going on, with dark ganache and espresso followed by roasted alder and juniper notes, before the core of plum, blackberry and steeped black currant fruit finally starts to assert itself. The long finish lets bay and tobacco leaf notes stride through, with a tarry edge as well. Shows great character." 96/100 (Wine Spectator)

You must be aged 18 or over to purchase wine.
