Tasting Notes: Very concentrated and textured with excellent balance. Feet firmly in Bordeaux, head somewhere in the New World making this wine very approachable at a young age but with the ability to develop well in time. This is classic St-Emilion Grand Cru, offering good red cherry/plummy/black fruit with lovely smooth, ripe tannins. Generous finish. | Drinking Dates: 2020 to 2030+ | Cépagement: 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc (45hl/ha) | Upbringing: Matured 12 months in oak barrels | ABV: 14.5% | Critic Reviews: “The 2015 Teyssier is a fabulous introduction to Jonathan Maltus's wines. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and dark spice, along with the wine's natural lushness, give the Teyssier much of its immediacy and allure. Flamboyant an inviting, with impeccable balance, the 2015 has so much to offer, including a very appealing proposition of price and availability. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc." 91/100 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous)
"Dark crimson. Rather sweet, dried-fruit aromas. But then there is freshness and this is an appetising whole. Just a bit of candy aromatically." 17-/20 (jancisrobinson.com) | Food: Classic Bordeaux combinations (roast beef or lamb, for example) certainly work but because of the up-front style of the wine it can take on a wide range of foods. |
