Tasting Notes: A new cuvee in 2007 with around 60% Mourvèdre, this wine needs time to reveal itself completely, as you would expect from a wine with so much Mourvèdre. Lots of black fruit and quite earthy with some new oak lurking behind .
All wines from this estate | Drinking Dates: 2015 to 2030 | Cépagement: 60% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 10% Syrah | Soil: Limestone and sandy soils | Upbringing: 3 week fermentation in cement vats where it remains for another 10 weeks for malolactic fermentation before being transferred to oak casks for 12 months. Bottled unfiltered. | ABV: 14.5% | Critic Reviews: "This is a meay, black fruit-dominated wine with some smokey earthy root vegetables intermixed with plenty of cassis, blackberry, plum and even a hint of fig. It is a more modern-styled wine by the standards of Usseglio and I wouldn't be surprised if some new barriques were thrown in here although I didn't really smell any oak. I just had the sense that this is a different animal than the other wines but that could just be the high percentage of Mourvèdre. In any event it looks set for a long life." 93-95/100 ( Wine Advocate) |
