Tasting Notes: Shimmering black robe with purplish tints. On the nose this wine is pure and fresh, with mineral, floral (violet) and dark fruit aromas. The perfect balance, found in the best vintages is present on the palate, combining aromatic intensity, roundness and silky tannins.
Anticipated bottling date: September 2012 | Drinking Dates: 2016 to 2026 | Cépagement: 100% Malbec (vines up to 51 years old) | Upbringing: 22 month ageing period, in 80% new barrels and 20% used barrels (used once). | Critic Reviews: "Similar nose, perhaps a little more vegetal character, with a similar sense of freshness too. On the palate the sweetness of the fruit bursts through more, with a really nice touch of creaminess and ripeness, the dryness of the tannins is there, but a balanced picture, the acidity and the fruit giving a fresh appeal. Very nice wine this, on the leaner more elegant style." 92/100 (Tom Cannavan, wine-pages.com)
'Tremendously complex, smoky bouquet. Of perfect and harmonious, as well as dense and juicy structure. Long, very long fresh final. Gorgeous wine, ready to savour now due to its cherry accents and great style. But it will age well for a long time. This evokes memories of the Toscana.' 17/20 (Vinum) |
