Tasting Notes:
Another superb vintage for Laurent Brusset with this formidable wine. He has combined power with elegance expertly. A mere hint of the barrels overlays the sweet fruit which compensates for the additional structure this wine has compared with the "Le Grand Montmirail" cuvee. The tannins glide and there is a wonderful mouthfeel. It will need 3-5 years but last for 15.
Drinking Dates:
2015 to 2025
Cépagement:
50% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 25% Syrah
Upbringing:
Hand-picked, severe selection, crushing, destalking, cold pre-fermentation and separate fermentation for each variety for 21 days with pigeage and temperature control. Aged in 100% oak casks, around 40% new.
ABV:
14%
Critic Reviews:
'One of the wines of the vintage... Full-bodied, textured and rich with notable freshness and purity, it gives up brilliant aromas and flavours of smoked black fruits, melted liquorice, roasted herbs and charred meats. Glass-staining purple in colour and with hints of sweet oak, it will benefit from another year or two in bottle and have over a decade of longevity. It's seriously impressive and should not be missed!' 94/100 (Wine Advocate)

'Bright violet colour. Highly aromatic and the decadent side, displaying scents of ripe dark berries, apricot, incense and floral pastilles. Plush, open-knit and appealingly sweet with very good depth to its intense black and blue fruit flavours. Closes smooth and long with supple tannins and a touch of allspice.' 91/100 (Josh Raynolds, Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar)

'The colour is intense and deep, blackish. The bouquet delivers bursts of animal notes, very ripe fruit and scents of spices and garrigue. Full-bodied, silky, full and long, the palate delights with its balance and its intensity. Built for the long term but may also be appreciated earlier (within two or three years). Coup de Coeur/2 stars (Guide Hachette)
