Tasting Notes: Expressive fruit on nose and well-rounded, full palate with crisp, juicy, crunchy red/black fruits. | Drinking Dates: 2018 to 2030 | Cépagement: 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, 5% Cinsault, 15% other varieties | Upbringing: Handpicking and hand-sorting is followed by flash heating of the berries to 80°C and cooling to 20°C. Classic maceration in open-topped wooden vats for Syrah and Mourvèdre and in lined concrete vats for the other varieties. | ABV: 14% | Critic Reviews: "Not yet bottled, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape is one of the few inky colored wines in the vintage. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and ripe with notable tannin, it offers beautiful notes of blackberry, shitake mushrooms, licorice and pepper meats. It plays in the 2014 vintage’s forward, supple nature, but has real depth and concentration. I don’t think it will be the longest lived Beaucastel, but it will have 15-20 years of overall longevity." 94/100 (Wine Advocate) | Food: Game birds, other white meats, veal |
