Tasting Notes: NOTE: This is the "Champauvins" wine but with a different label and a back label which reads "Selected by the Big Red Wine Company".
The Grenache part of the 2009 "Champauvins" has a pretty nose, sweet fruit, big for a Côtes du Rhône. A second vat showed similar fruit but with sweetness and intensity pitched differently. The Syrah is quite restrained at first, very black and tannic. Ageworthy, a real mini-Chateauneuf. | Drinking Dates: 2012 to 2016 | Cépagement: 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre | Upbringing: Aged in tank. | Critic Reviews: "It reveals a deep ruby/plum colour in addition to full-bodied flavours, light tannin and lavender, truffle, black currant and black cherry aromas." 90+/100 ( Parker) |
