|Single Bottles (75cl) @ £15.00|
70% Grenache with Cinsault, Mourvedre and Syrah, partly aged (around a quarter) in barrels, the rest in cement. This is refined, elegant, long and complex with massive potential. Bottled in July so it has had some time to settle down and develop in the bottle. A very enjoyable Gigondas and worthy successor to the ever-popular 2007.
2012 to 2019
70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 5% Cinsault (30hl/ha)
Crushing, destalking, no yeast added. 15 day fermentation in vats with twice daily pigeages. Aged 60% in vats, 40% in 2-4 year old demi-muids.
"An attractive, full-throttle effort exhibiting a dark ruby/purple colour, sweet black currant and kirsch-like fruit and a sexy, upfront, spicy, earthy personality with plenty of tobacco leaf, forest floor and underbrush. Drink this full-bodied, velvety-textured Gigondas over the next 7-8 years." 90-92/100
