Lots of black fruit (from the international varieties) but with underlying Sangiovese notes. More international in style with plenty of toasty oak but the fruit is still the major player. International but with a distinctive Italian twist: a true Super-Tuscan! Evocative of the night
2013 to 2020
60% Sangiovese, 15% each Merlot and Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Manual harvest. The vinification process is directed by the oenologist Alberto Antonini who aims to create wines that reflect the terroir. The freshly picked grapes are de-stemmed then grapes are manually selected on a sorting table. Maceration and fermentation in French oak vats at a controlled temperature. Daily pumping over to extract the best from the grapes; racking with manual press at low pressure then the wine is transferred by gravity in French oak barrels for aging for at least 18 months. Once bottled, the wine takes a further refinement for at least 8 month
"Big, spicy, tarry and oaky nose. The palate is soft with good intensity of warm spicy fruit. Decent complexity on the finish" (Paul Merritt, Decanter
